Goal #8: Operations
Mission:
Work with existing grid projects such as the GryPhyN/iVDGL PPDG,
and EU DataGrid, virtual scientific organizations such as the CMS and ATLAS
Projects and the engineering staffs developing high performance networks and
exchange points including the US-CERN link, Starlight, DataTAG as well as
production research networks such as Abilene, ESnet, and GEANT to help define
the requirements and operational procedures for both an all-purpose Grid
Operations Center, and VO-specific Grid Operations Centers as needed, so that
the ensemble of research networks is able to work efficiently and provide the
high level of capability required.

Activities:
The iVDGL Grid
Operations Center (iGOC) serves as a single point of contact for iVDGL
information and operations. The iGOC serves as a central database of contact
information for iVDGL sites. The iGOC is a repository for configuration
information regarding network, storage and computing resources at each site. It
also serves as a central monitoring point for operational activity at each site
and among the sites (the iVDGL in total).
